This movie was okay but I think all the foul language was a little much. Imagine how glad I was when my daughter told me she tried and couldn't get in the day before because I probably would have let her go because the Will Ferrell movies I have seen were not this bad.
There is no need for Will Ferrel to stoop to this. He is too talented for this trash. This is absolutely the worst and most revolting movie I have ever seen. (BTW, one of my favorite movies is The Jerk, so I am not opposed to stupid humor.) Do all of you who enjoyed this movie actually think F-bombs and eating dog doo is actully funny? If so, are you 12? For a premise this absurd, it takes some actual writing and directing to make it funny (e.g. Airplane). This had neither. LAME!
Oh My Gosh!!! Ok, there is a lot of 'dumb' comedies out this summer and this one tops the list!!! With that being said... I like 'dumb' comedies!!! I don't want to have a slap in the face about a message or strong story line when it comes to a 'dumb' comedy. And Step Brothers makes that happen!!! This is truly a guy's movie, some gils will like it too. There was so many ridiculous situations and foul dialogue that just made this even funnier. I haven't see Talladega Nights yet and now, I want to!!! Take Joker's advice when going to see a comedy and ask yourself, "Why, so serious?"
Last night I saw "Step Brothers" and I'm here to tell you--don't bother! It was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. At first it had all the potential of "Dumb and Dumber" but the only thing that happened was I got dumb and dumber with each passing moment. Now I know that R rated movies are allowed to say the "F" word but every 5 minutes??? I don't believe the writers have more than a 5th grade vocabulary level. And seeing the star wipe his private parts on a drum set was more than I could stand.
Shame on you Wil Farrell! You have fallen so far from the beloved "Elf" that I am done with your movies altogether. I give this move an "F."
All Talledaga Nights fans and die hard Will Farrell fans will love this movie. Unfortunely I'm not one of either. This movie was ok, but I thought the use of the F bomb was total overkill. There are a couple of scenes that are innappropriate for viewers under about 15-16. Overall is was an average movie with underaverage humor but above average chemistry between actors. 3 stars!
If you're a fan of Talladega Nights, you'll like Step Brothers. I laughed through most of the movie. I wasn't surprised by any plot twists but Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly work together like magic. Had it been a different pair of actors, this movie would have tanked. If you're looking to laugh at some dumb humor, then this is your movie.
